Tarmac research for road construction

TerraCarta is an experienced partner when it comes to tarmac research. Our expertise is often required in road construction projects, when a company is building a (tarmac) road. During such projects it’s of great importance to know the situation in the underground. Mapping and surveying parameters like tarmac thickness, sagging or foundation thickness are all possible with our GPR techniques.

Tarmac research in practice

Firstly, our GPR technique helps to see what the layers of the road look like. Locations that deviate from our measurements can be found and samples can be made there through the use of a drill. The tarmac sample is tested by us for traces of tar. If a significant amount of tar is found, a follow-up survey follows.
